Et sur l’eau le TIRHANDIL…
L’association Tirhandil doit son nom au premier bateau parrainé qui est également son emblème :Le TIRHANDIL.
Ce voilier,d’une facture extérieure authentique est aussi rare qu’exceptionnel.
Le Tirhandil a connu plusieurs propriétaires depuis sa sortie du chantier de Bodrum en 1972,le plus prestigieux reste son concepteur Ziya Güvendiren,reconnu dans toute la Méditérranée comme Maître des Maîtres Tirhandil et véritable star nationale en Turquie où des rues portent son nom et où ses oeuvres sont exposées dans des musées.
Le Tirhandil a sillonné durant des années les côtes turques et grecques du Dodécanèse, avant d’être rapatrié par son ancien propriétaire en vue d’une francisation.Le convoyage vers l’île de Porquerolles depuis la baie de Marmaris fût confié à un marin pêcheur engagé auprès de la SNSM et à sa compagne peintre aquarelliste.
Ils traversèrent la mer Egée,puis la mer Ionienne après avoir emprunté le canal de Corinthe puis la mer Tyrrhénienne entre Italie et Sicile afin de rejoindre la Sardaigne,la Corse et enfin l’Ile de Porquerolles.
Durant la traversée,la peintre aquarelliste fit un magnifique carnet de voyage qui illustre bien le Tirhandil.
Fin 2023 ,post Covid ce bateau est en souffrance depuis 2 ans sur le port de Rosas en Espagne et est menacé de destruction.
Le propriétaire actuel décide de l’acquérir dans l’état et n’hésite pas un seul instant à mettre sa vie en stand-by pour procéder à son sauvetage et sa rénovation,persuadé que ce bateau doit rester dans le patrimoine maritime.
Alors que tout le monde pensait que le Tirhandil allait couler et que ce marin était fou, accompagné de sa sœur et d’un retraité bénévole de la SNCM et marin reconnu,il le rapatrie vers la France par la mer.
Des jours de préparation en amont et 11 heures de navigation plus tard le Tirhandil a miraculeusement tenu bon,il est à Port-Leucate,prêt à être sorti de l’eau pour sa restauration sur le chantier naval de la Voilerie.
La sortie d’eau a été confié à Anthony Guichaoua chef grutier de Port-Leucate et son équipe.
Grâce au grutage de cet expert chevronné le bateau n’a subi aucun dommage majeur de structure et a pu être placé sur bers.
La restauration est confiée à un charpentier naval à Port-Leucate ayant déjà participer à des restaurations de bateaux du patrimoine,et déjà propriétaire lui-même d’un bateau classé d’intérêt patrimonial.

The Tirhandil has had several owners since leaving the Bodrum shipyard in 1972,the most prestigious remains its designer Ziya Güvendiren,recognized throughout the Mediterranean as Master of Tirhandil Masters and a true national star in Turkey where streets bear his name and where his works are exhibited in museums.
The Tirhandil traveled for years on the Turkish and Greek coasts of the Dodecanese, before being repatriated by its former owner with a view to becoming French.
The delivery to the island of Porquerolles from the Bay of Marmaris was entrusted to a fisherman committed to the SNSM and his partner watercolor painter.They crossed the Aegean Sea, then the Ionian Sea after having taken the Corinth Canal then the Tyrrhenian Sea between Italy and Sicily in order to reach Sardinia,Corsica and finally the Island of Porquerolles.
During the crossing,the watercolor painter made a magnificent travel diary which illustrates Tirhandil well.
At the end of 2023,post-Covid, this boat has been in distress for 2 years in the port of Rosas in Spain and is threatened with destruction.
The current owner decides to acquire it as is and does not hesitate for a single moment to put his life on standby to carry out its rescue and renovation,convinced that this boat must remain part of the maritime heritage.
While everyone thought that the Tirhandil was going to sink and that this sailor was crazy, accompanied by his sister and a retired SNCM volunteer and recognized sailor,he repatriated it to France by sea.
Days of preparation upstream and 11 hours of navigation later, the Tirhandil miraculously held up, it is in Port-Leucate,ready to be taken out of the water for its restoration at the Voilerie shipyard.
The water outlet was entrusted to Anthony Guichaoua,chief crane operator of Port-Leucate and his team.
Thanks to the crane work of this experienced expert,the boat did not suffer any major structural damage and could be placed on cradles.
The restoration is entrusted to a shipwright in Port-Leucate who has already participated in restorations of heritage boats,and is already the owner himself of a boat classified as being of heritage interest.
